I absolutely adore the NPCs in the Trails series, but I understand where you're coming from. The way I deal with it is by recognizing that the game already tells me what it needs me to know in the main story. Anything else is just bonus stuff. If there's an NPC right there in my screen I'll go talk to them, sure, but I won't go looking for them otherwise. What you've described, however, doesn't seem like something you can force yourself out of. Have you considered brute-forcing your way through Second Chapter without giving a single fuck about NPCs? Or even going through it with a guide so you don't miss out on any substantial optional content? Maybe that'll change your perspective, even if it seems hard to do at first.

Here’s a ranking no one asked for: Plastic Beach > Demon Days > Humanz > Gorillaz As much as I liked the self-titled album as a teen, it just doesn’t have the legs to stand side by side with the other albums. Most songs in there were novel at the time, but have become completely forgettable with time. I really love Humanz. It has some of my favorite tracks from the entire discography... but both Demon Days and Plastic Beach are absolute masterpieces that easily rank into my top 10 favorite albums ever. Plastic Beach in particular is one of those records that feel like a complete sensorial experience. Just wanted to point out that I chuckled heartily at this exchange.

After playing Berserk, I decided that it'd be fun to introduce mafia to a group of close friends. Ages ago back in college we used to have a blast with a simpler version of it (which we called "the city sleeps"), and so they were immediately interested in the game as it's played on these boards. What I did was pirate Stan's and spider's Berserk Mafia like a goddamned criminal, making a few changes to some roles. I kept most of the game's structure intact, but changed the theme so that the characters became late 90s/early 2000s Brazilian politicians and celebrities instead of Berserk characters ( , - I think you'll have fun reading it :P). The reason why I'm sharing this is because asked me to summarize what happened in that game way back then, when I described how the game served as a cool bonding experience for the 19 players. Most of them already knew each other, but some were from different groups of friends, and they all seemed to really have a lot of fun playing. And I also I think it was interesting to highlight a couple of things I noticed in player behavior compared to what happens here. I think the big, crazy thing about the game was that it wasn't played on a forum: instead, I set it up as a WhatsApp group. And, surprisingly, it worked for the most part (more on that later). I did it that way because most players - well, virtually all of them - aren't really big forum users. WhatsApp is crap, but it's the most popular messaging app here in Brazil, so eh. A couple of notes about what happened in the game: - The town spy character managed to get his hands on a random message from scum chat the same night when he was night killed for seemingly being too perceptive (N2). In the hour between getting the message and day start, when he realized he had been killed, he managed to perfectly pinpoint the entire 4-person scum team. This is the fun part: he managed to do so because he analyzed the wording and grammar of the message he got, and identified who was it who said it, and to whom it was addressed. There were no names or any critical information mentioned in that message - he simply managed to nail two scum down due to his familiarity with how our friends speak to each other. - Out of all the 19 players in the game, only 1 had played mafia previously in this format. Because of that, what happened was that scum players were scared of putting actual content into their contributions to the game. They were all inexperienced. Eventually, town managed to nail three out of the four scum players by looking at their past activity. The last remaining scum had actually managed to blend into town a bit and still had a chance, but he came into a mass claim with a half-assed fake claim and was called out by the one experienced player. - The one experienced player was Fandorin. His character was a neutral body-snatcher - on N3, he could choose to become any of the other characters who had died at that point in the game. There were three townie bodies up for picking... and one other, unknown body that had been there since the start of the game as part of the flavor texts and hadn't been used by any other player. He picked that body up, and it was that of a neutral survivor. He managed to go on and win the game alongside town by being open about his neutrality and pushing town along, while scum wasted two or three shots on him while he was protected by townies. Out of the 19 players that were in that first game, 16 came back for the second one. The second one... was a little bit messier, haha. It was Marvel-based in terms of flavor, and it was also role madness, but based on an original design I created by browsing furiously through Hecht's (I think?) "Modding Lessons Learned" doc. There were 24 players in it. The problem with the second game was pretty simple: there were too many people in it, talking way too much. In the first game, since most players were still getting the hang of it, they were timid and posted very little. If you wanted to go back and read a previous day phase, it was manageable, even on WhatsApp. In the second game, though, everyone was comfortable babbling on and on, and actual content ended up lost amidst hundreds of useless messages - exactly like you'd expect from a messaging group between friends. I don't have precise stats here, but the total number of messages was astronomical. A couple of highlights: - In both games, D1 ended with a voluntary no lynch. People argued for and against it, but eventually the vast majority of players decided that it'd be wasteful to lynch someone without any information from mechanics. This was the biggest difference between what you see here and the meta that this group created. - A newbie townie used his power to create a thunderdome between three townies and a neutral name cop on D3. One of the townies he targeted was shot during the night, so the lynch was between three players. Ultimately, they chose to kill someone who was widely townread over the confirmed neutral player because he was being useful. It was freaking hilarious. - Mafia won this game epically. They found out during D3 that there was a neutral vig with a mason partner whose mission was to shoot a specific scum player. In their hubris, they chose not to roleblock said vig. The vig shot a scummate of the player who was his original target, and in that same night scum's target was resurrected. D4 started with only a dead scum and pure despair on their side. Somehow, they managed to avoid further suspicion all the way to MyLo with no other casualties. Throughout the day phase, they switched votes around so that no target other than the one they intended to lynch had many votes on them. At the , they coordinated a quadruple vote switch to their target, and managed to reach a mislynch due to town's dividedness. It was great. It's been a couple of months since the second game ended, and now people are pestering me to host another one, but I'll look into doing it in a proper forum environment instead of relying on WhatsApp again. Overall, though, both games were incredibly fun, and it actually brought some friends who were drifting apart back together and talking and going out again. Sorry for the huge wall of text :P

My friends are highly competitive people, and so roping them into this was easier than I thought it'd be, haha. I actually did a thing where I uploaded a phase's entire transcript into an open Google Doc so that they could easily reread previous messages, ctrl+f'ing and all that stuff, but it reached a point where it was simply too much. People were getting off work and saying, "Oh, there are 1200 unread messages, can someone sum things up for me?", and then arguments would circle back and start again with different participants. Even I started only skimming some stuff after a while. The whole experience taught me that people really do have a lot more restraint when posting on a forum, and that's where the game needs to be. :D The folks were particularly fond of Roberto Jefferson, hahaha. One of these days Fandorin will lose a game of mafia, the bastard.

I'm not exactly sure how it works in the US, but in Brazil those cases can always go either way. Even if you changed the nomenclature, they'd probably still have grounds to sue and get you into a long struggle, which is usually deterrence enough to stop copycats from showing up. But, as you say, there quite a few mafia-related apps around, so there's definitely some leeway. If you do decide to go forward with it, hit me up 'cause I have some ideas :lol

Reserved seats have been the standard here for about 10 years now. This shit is becoming less and less common because people don’t tolerate it at all. I’ve seen people who tried to steal seats, didn’t budge when confronted, and ended up having to leave while booed by the entire room. I actually tortured myself all the way to the original's Platinum (that damn AT-ST Trophy, man) and that felt like quite the accomplishment, so I was hoping to do it again. With how little players there seem to be in Brazilian servers, though, it's literally taking about 15 minutes to actually get a match going. I'm really frustrated with all of this. I'm guessing it's a problem with the lack of players near me. Sometimes I end up on US servers by accident, but then the game gets all laggy :/ Save for a crazy discount that ups the local player count, I guess there's not much anyone can do to help me. Just wanted to vent a little!

That one is another that I didn't enjoy at all, haha. I guess we're just looking for different stuff in the show. The concept of that episode is interesting, I admit. But I was watching that episode with a group of people and I called the protagonist twist within literally seconds of that initial set-up scene in his room. It was so telegraphed that I couldn't enjoy it at all.

I really like the first story that's told within White Christmas. The conclusion to the episode itself is a bit too out there. There are multiple Black Mirror episodes that are way better. Edit: Some of my favorites are The Entire History of You, Be Right Back, and San Junipero. I love Fifteen Million Merits as well, but that's a more unpopular opinion.

On a first listen... I don't like this at all. I actually stopped listening to it halfway through and had to come back later because I was deflating on the treadmill. Hollywood and Lake Zurich are pretty damn good, but I'd already heard them both a hundred times. Wow. So far, Plastic Beach > Demon Days > Humanz > Gorillaz > The Now Now

But that's the thing: we've made our official stance on Colin Moriarty pretty clear since, I think, the first week of these boards. There's a reason his content is banned. You talk about tolerance - a big part of tolerance is not letting intolerance run amok. You're obviously free to hold your own personal views on this subject, but relativization of the stuff Colin has said in the past simply isn't a discussion that's welcome here, as doing so would be hurtful to all of the minorities who are starting to think of these boards as a new home. Brandon is officially losing me. What was up with him dancing around the word "predatory" when talking about loot boxes? That's not up to discussion - it is an admittedly predatory system, that literally brags about chasing whales. And saying it's all about messaging while bringing up how casinos have a fine line talking about gambling addiction hotlines as if they do it out of good will, and not federal regulation forces them to? What? I'm really glad Ben was in that panel.

This is how I see it. The moment they bring Colin in for something is the moment the whole "Love & Respect" thing dies. I already feel that they don't do enough to actually promote that slogan as a real message - when real issues arise, time and time again they waste precious opportunities to actually improve their community by discussing those issues. I get that actual gameplay is their focus, but avoiding topical discussions on diversity and all that makes them veer dangerously close to the "I miss when games were just games" brigade, and the slogan ring hollow. That's quite the winning streak.

I have no doubt in my mind that they're all great people who fight for all the right causes. I doubt I'd even consider giving money to their Patreon if I got any other vibe from them. I guess my point is that I do think they need to do more within their shows to actively make the "Love & Respect" slogan a reality. It's a flag that decided to raise. If their slogan was something like "We Play Games," I probably wouldn't hold them to such high standards. But it's not the case.

I've been reading that the Samsung MU63000 doesn't have a wide color gamut, and that such a deficiency makes stuff look washed out in darker scenes with HDR on. Would it be wise to just keep HDR off, in that case? Or do I still benefit from turning HDR on, compared to regular SDR imagery?

Alright! Got my new Samsung MU6300 up and running. I'm excited! ... Except for the fact that I can't access the TV's menu! I can't even change inputs! Nothing happens when I press the Home button.
