Finished it a few moments ago (took me around 13 hours just focusing on story missions), ending was a bit underwhelming. Overall I thought it was orite, best thing once again was the characters and all that. Didn't really care much for the level design or enemy encounters. I died far too many times as well, was playing on Bring 'em on, but felt like I was on a much higher difficulty most of the time considering how quickly enemies could take you down.

I seem to be nearing the end now. I've been enjoying it, game looks really nice and guns are a lot of fun to use. I find that you die really easy though if you don't keep yourself in cover most of the time, when really I would like to run around gun blazing more. I also find the feedback from being hit is very weak. Anyway, the characters, voice-acting and writing are great once again. I'm glad that MachineGames are still here to give us rich narrative driven singe-player first-person shooters.

Started playing in 2003. Only really owned one decent electric guitar over the years and that is my Les Paul Epiphone, although I don't really like the weight to it. My amp stopped working a couple years ago and haven't replaced it yet, so I just strum on my Yamaha acoustic now and again. Sometimes I wish I spent more time putting money this hobby rather than gaming and such.

It took me a while before I really starting putting the effort into learning, but once I actually sat down and got a lot of tips from guitarist on YouTube I was soon doing things I found impossible before. Chords were something I had trouble with for a while, but now they are second nature to me. Still got a long way to go, but it's amazing how much you can improve if you just keep at it.

You've got yourself some trouble there if it does end up an Xbox timed exclusive, but I don't see that happening. Also, I could see Sony really fighting to have it at their E3 show as people do usually associate the series, or at least RE2, with the PlayStation brand, even though, interestingly enough, none of the games have ever been exclusive to a Sony platform, at least the mainline games anyway (correct me if I'm wrong). Thinking about it, growing up I only owned RE3 on PS1, the rest I got on Dreamcast and GameCube. I also think RE7 is the first Resident Evil game I've bought at launch on a PlayStation console since RE3. I guess for me, I grew up owning most of the series on Sega and Nintendo consoles. Although, even though that is the case, I'd say I still associate the original games with PlayStation more.

I can't remember if I've ever played it or not, I think it was called Nightmare difficult right? I think it makes ammo and healing items far more scarce. Enemies deal far more damage too. I think I tried it once before, not really a fan of making the game stupidly hard though. Very nice. I totally missed out on the Saturn sadly.

Nice one. I've had the VGA box for about 4 years now and it's really good. RE2 and RE3 look very sharp on it. Sadly though I can't play Dino Crisis or Code Veronica with the VGA box because those games are only 50HZ in the EU and the VGA box doesn't support 50HZ. So that kinda sucks.

Go with the HD version, the backgrounds can look a bit over-sharpened and ugly, but everything else is pretty much an improvement. Also, like KC mentioned, I'd avoid the alternate controls, it doesn't really feel right and also when the camera changes angle you'll mostly like do a 180 and go in the wrong direction since pushing up on the analogue stick is no longer always going to be up no matter the angle like with the classic controls. Also start off with the screen at 4:3 because the camera wasn't meant to pan around when moving (makes the backgrounds look less impressive too since it makes it more obvious that they aren't 3D), and I've noticed sometimes that items might not be visible at the edge of the screen like they normally would because 16:9 cuts off some of the image since it's zoomed in to fit the screen.

I always liked how smooth DC2 controlled, running and gunning while being able to do 360 movement was a lot of fun. I grew up playing it on the Dreamcast and loved it, but playing it again with the HD version released on 360 a few years ago I realised that it's one of the weaker games. It also did feel like a step back from RE3, which had free moment on stairs and decaptations and such. I preferred him in the original Dreamcast version. They made him too powerful in CVX, I always liked when Alexia slaps him flying and he falls flat on the ground instead of landing on his feet in CVX. I really want them to merge RE2 and RE3 for the remake lol.

RE5, without a doubt. I thought it was one of the worst decisions they made. I followed that game from the beginning and it was looking so good when it was just Chris, his design was also much better before they changed it. I never wanted co-op in my Resi games, I wish they just made that an option rather than designing the game around two players and then forcing everyone to play with an AI partner.

I remember getting REmake around the same time as RE0 and I only got just after the train before I dropped it until the I went back to it with the HD version. I managed to finish it then and ended up getting all the trophies for the story (still need the kill enemies one in Leech Hunter mode)I enjoyed it, but I just think it's OK., I don't like the lack of item boxes and wasn't too into having a partner follow you around at times. Although, unlocking infinite ammo made me enjoy the game way more since then you don't have to fill your inventory up with ammo and less having to put key items on the ground and then having to backtrack all the way to get them again lol. Also, it's the best looking classic Resi now with the HD version. Those backgrounds looked amazing.

I just realised, there is going to be a trophy for a knife-only run for REmake 2, isn't there lol? Actually, I think the no Ink Ribbons run was much more intense. I remember the first time I tried to do that for REmake I died right before the end in the labs, so that was fun. I guess it was my own fault for trying to do the knife-only run and no Ink Ribbons run in one go, though. I think in REmake 2 it will be much harder to do those two, depending on what they keep and change.

I felt like RE6 was a big step back from RE5's combat. I still put on RE5 to just mess around on Mercenaries, it's one of the most polished TPS Horror games out there. I don't hold the campaign in high regard, but I do like the core gameplay. The only problem I have with is tank controls, even in 2009 it felt like it was dated in that regard, especially releasing 5 months after the brilliant Dead Space. Also, I think that Revelations 2 has the best TPS controls for a Resi game. If they could combine those controls with the polish of RE5's combat then I would be quite happy.

Which parts of the series do you guys get a fright at the most? RE2 probably holds the biggest frights for me, and they both involve breaking glass, it's so sudden and loud, I brace for it every time I do a playthrough. The first part is right at the start when in Kendos and the zombies break through the glass and eat him, and the second is when the Licker jumps through the one-way glass in the police station interrogation room after you pick up the Rook Plug.

I remember playing SSX Tricky when I was younger and I really liked it. I'm not sure I played the rest of the older games, though. I'm pretty sure this was Asterix on the Master System, but I always remember two guys with their little dog and they are walking and it's a wide shot and they are silhouettes. I was sure it was Asterix, but I could never find this part of the game again, so it might not be.

I think this was the Commodore C64 or a game on the Commodore C64 , but there was a game, or the actual system itself where it counted down with bomb icons. I always remember as children, my friend said if we didn't turn it off before the last bomb went off the system would blow up lol. I always wanted to know where that was from again. Could have been the Amiga too.

I'm on chapter 6 now I think. I've been going really slow with it, but I've been really enjoying it. All the mini-games are so much fun, I did the dancing for the first time and that was good, but I found it hard to begin with lol. And yeah, I remember watching Angry Joe's review of it earlier this year. I'll probably watch it again after I finish it to see what I agree with and disagree with.

My main complaint with Yakuza 0 at the moment is how long some cutscenes go on for and how slow the text boxes can be, it makes some chapters feel far longer than they actually are. It's making it hard for me to have long sessions with it.

Yeah sometimes I speed it up with X, but I think some dialogue scenes go on too long. I really love everything else about it though, so it's not ruining the game for me or anything, just wish I could play it for longer stretches without getting worn out lol.

Thank you! I've played about an hour so far and I'm really liking it. Already very interested in the story. Loving the combat too. I'm a big Sega fan and Shenmue is one of my favourite series so this series is right up my street. Only question I have is when do the arcades open up? I would have really liked to, but my nearest cinema that shows movies on release is about an hour away and long travel makes me feel sick, so I usually avoid it. Watched the TV spot a bunch of times, really like what I'm seeing. Also, anyone else excited for the campaign for Battlefront II? I've been wanting a big budget single-player Star Wars game for ages now, I really hope it delivers. After the news about Visceral Games and what's happening to their Star Wars games, I will be super disappointed if BFII's campaign is not good. Oh yeah, and with KotOR being backwards compatible on the Xbox One now I started playing that again and it's just as good as I remembered. I'm hoping the sequel gets put on there too at some point.

Yeah, don't want to pit I & II against each other, II is amazing too, just the idea of people skipping I makes me a little sad. Please don't skip it, people. :( The big building fight nearer the end of the game (trying to avoid spoiler territory as much as possible) is truly epic. One of my favourite moments in any video game. I left a save just before it starts so I could do it anytime I wanted.

Yup, I still really like the look of the games, very lush and art direction is top notch. The highest resolutions I've played them at is 480p with the VGA box, and they looked great, can't wait to see how these versions will look. Also, one thing I would like to see from a technical standpoint is getting rid of the pop-in, or fade-in of people and such.

I think for a game that came out in 1999 it's quite impressive. Deadly Premonition reminded me of a Dreamcast game with its graphics and whatnot, but I wouldn't say that Shenmue is similar to it in any other way. It's definitely not a weird game like Deadly Premonition.

Warnings and temporary bans aren't something to be taken lightly. The staff sees the history of every warning and temp ban for that user and it weighs heavily on their profile, it may seem like a slap on the wrist, but it's definitely more serious than that, especially when it concerns the matter of what that person you quoted was banned for. Also, if someone comes back from a ban and continues doing the same thing then that is pretty serious and they will most likely be banned for longer or permanently banned.

Yeah, these are mostly my thoughts. I think it's a tricky one. I mean it's good that some men want to defend women, but I do think a decent amount of the time it's disingenuous. Some obviously do it expecting some sort of prize from you. I've also had some man step in and ask if I needed help when some guy was being a bit weird and creepy towards me on another forum, and it made me feel like I was too weak to handle something like that, which i didn't like it all, and I was like I'm totally fine, it's just some idiot. One thing I don't like at all is people thinking I can't handle myself.

It's one of the best RPGs ever made. It's one of the most well written games and has fantastic characters. I'm not one for hyperbole either. It's funny though, because I got 10 hours into it then dropped it for a whole year before I got back into it and it finally clicked for me, before then I was going on about how overrated it was, but then I realised what a total idiot I was once I played the game more. I couldn't recommend it enough.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I think there could be some interesting things to find out about how men and women see something like art differently, but I don't think we should stereotype how the different gender's draw their art. There are too many variations from person to person for it to be that simple to identify the gender of the artist based on how they draw. Although, there will be some cases where it is fairly obvious, but I don't think it's fair on the artist to completely judge what their gender might be going on how certain other artists of the same gender draw their artwork.

I enjoyed BotW, but was not blown away by it like many people were. I thought the story was really lacking, and the dungeons were kinda mediocre. I hate weapon durability in games too. Welcome to all the new peeps. Ellie is so cool. I'm also always happy to have more queer girls in games, but I'm biased. :P I also really like the look of the woman in the newest trailer for Part II, There needs to be more buff girls in games, never makes sense when women are fighters and are very skinny and have no muscle definition to them (I also find it really attractive haha), Also, the negative reaction to her body from some people was what I expected, but it's still lame.

The PS1 version has some cool FMVs added to it but the load times are pretty slow so most say to avoid it, I think people recommend the GBA version the most, but the SNES version has it's pros too. I guess go with the one that is easiest for you to pick up out of those two.

I love Bayonetta, the games and the character. There are a bunch of gratuitous moments where the camera in cutscenes will focus on her breasts and genitals, but I think overall she owns herself. I've also noticed that a lot of men don't actually find her that attractive, so I guess they did something right with her design.

I've very soft spoken too and most of my life I've had people tell me to speak up. I had a similar thing (although nothing really to do with gender but whatever) with one of my neighbours a few years ago. As I was walking to my house and he said "hey" and then I said "hey, you orite" or something, but he didn't hear me and then started muttering to himself something like "hey how are you? Hey, I'm orite, thank you!". I was like geez lol. I feel if I talk any louder I'm just shouting, so meh.

Haha yes. I usually roll my eyes at my male friends or any guy who refers to women in games as "waifus". I sometimes want to talk about what I like about them as a person and their strengths etc. but their opinion on them usually is summed up with "her tits are great m8". So it's usually a pointless endeavour. I know some female characters (especially Japanese RPGs) are designed to pander to men, but it also happens with genuine female designs far too much. Overwatch is dubbed "Team Fortress 2 but with waifus" after all. Yay, another Rikku fan! I recently played through FFX HD and she is one of the strongest fighters in the game once you start really levelling her up. I love mixing things with her. (Also, Tara Strong is awesome). Also, I thought you ladies would get a kick out of this.

The loss of an actual soundtrack when exploring the different areas is a big loss for me - it sounds like it's all just ambience now. Although, the fact you can make it so the original soundtrack plays instead (if you pay for it) makes up for it.

Yup, those parts are going to be very intense. Kinda sweating thinking about it. Also, looking back on RE2, it really is the most gruesome Resident Evil I think. There is so much good body horror. Seeing such things as Ben tearing open in this engine is going to gross as hell, but very cool. I'm also very interested to know how they will handle the scene when you encounter your first Licker. Such a classic scene.

I would say it would depend on some things like, does it make sense for her character, like it would be obvious pandering if she were a doctor and were showing cleavage (Naomi in MGS4 is a good example of that). Sniper Wolf is another example, she has a lot of cleavage for most of MGS1 even though she is in Alaska lol. MaskedNdi posted a good example from Lost Planet too.

I see people bring these sort of outfits for men up a lot in these arguments, but a topless man is seen as empowering rather than weak and exposed. That costume for Chris is also an unlockable bonus rather than his default.

You can be sexy without having to show off your body, a woman can be sexy by the way she carries herself, she doesn't need to be stripped of most of her clothing to be sexy. The ones objectified through their clothing usually show a lot of boob and/or their ass, basically wearing clothing that makes sure those parts of their body are very prominent, and the game and camera will most likely make sure that you aware that her body is out on display for your viewing pleasure. The clothing will also most likely not make sense for whatever situation they are in. But they can also be objectified through the way their character is portrayed, like maybe they are captured and it's up to the male character to save her, or maybe she is just useless at everything and the man has to show her how it's done. Basically, giving her no agency.
