Last Sunday, SBS (the tv channel in australia that attempts to cover world stuff) was playing this gymnast event and i was attempting sleep so i ended up watching through to the end and the winners for both categories were Asian Americans :D Morgan Hurd did the floor thingy and she was so precious and so talented omg * ___ * She's adopted from young age, from Chinese background. And Yul Moldauer did the high bar thingy and he was flawless and had perfect hair * ___ * His background is Korean, i think... Morgan Hurd: Yul Moldauer: They won the American Cup in March: Anyway, I was so pleased with both young people's achievements and so this morning I went to look them up and found out that Morgan just fell on her head in a competition but .......thankfully, she's doing OKAY :D News article here: I just fell for Morgan, she's just so adorable and so gifted * ___ *

<3 As for being 'connected' with chineseness, for lack of better word, i am very much still feel connected to my asianness, because i wasn't born in australia. i suffer terribly at wanting to 'pass' or in a way, to be treated like a white person, for many, many, many years. there was a period of time that i actively made it a point of pride if my relatives back in asia would chide me for being 'so white'. i think my brain was a bit of a mess. (maybe still is a hot mess even now? :thinking emoji:) Anyway, i grew up (somehow) and now I am coming around and I feel a great deal of shame and regret for that period of time. And I realize I can never wash off the Asian parts in me .... OFF me. It is a part of me and it is a part that I am actually have always been proud of, despite the mindfuckery that I was doing to myself. I still consume and watch and read a lot of media contents produced in Asia, since I grew up on it. I remember fondly watching the series of the Condor Heroes with my dad and I still gush about it whenever I recollect its details in my mind. I still go home at least once a year, but very likely twice within a 12 month period, and still live and breathe the cultural atmospheres of life in asia. So, one leg in each, so to speak. I do feel the frustration of being an asian person in a predominantly white people's country. For example, my ex-boss, a white australian dude, thought it was a great idea for him to celebrate his 15th wedding anniversary in the traditional chinese garb (the ) and he shared the photos with me because he thought he was being a cool dude. Well, he was my boss so I didnt flip out but I was really irked internally. I felt that it was kinda insensitive and that he was making me feel as if he could partake on my culture and ornamentalize our icons. ........(im still mad now if i think about this XD;) but then I realize he probably have no idea of what he was doing that he was trying to show me that he wanted to relate to me and this was his way to show that he was appreciative of my culture. WHICH DOESNT MAKE IT OKAY but, he was also a good person (mostly) and it was a very conflicting experience for me. I wasn't able to engage him in a dialog about it during my time with that company because professionalizm, but later i did reach out and told him that how he was making me feel. He was apologetic, thankfully. Anyway, I think I'm rambling now :3 but that's a slice of what my experience was as a first generation Asian Australian immigrant, and thank you to anyone who bothers to read and parse through it. I will also try to be more active here. To be honest and i guess this is stupid of me, i have been feeling a bit left out since a lot of your experiences are NA centric so I had drifted away. That was bad of me, and I shouldn't have done that. So I'll be around more... but feel free to poke my face if I do wander off again. Just @ me or sommit. Also, I can't promise that I'd be able to deliver 100% everything of what you all might be after, since people relations across sections and factions and walks of life will remain to be a very complex thing to wade through, but I do promise that I will listen and I will try to carry your voices through, up the ladder of moderation channels. I will fight for my asian bros/sis, but I will also fight for the success of ResetEra as a platform, so uh.... i hope i wont get to be torn apart in the process :D

No one is unwelcomed at any threads here in ResetEra, but there are communities hangouts that cater for focused groups' circumstances. To be honest, I cant see that your posts have been winning hearts nor supports here. Maybe, in a way, your passion is not the passion of the people in this particular community, and your specific battles are not the battles of AsianERA. Don't take it the wrong way, but at the rate you are going now, you may be driving people further to disengage from your posts. I will of course defer to each community's voice, so correct me if I am wrong, good AsianERA members, but in the past I've observed that AsianERA has been mostly about making friends and food porn and celebrating the various (since "Asia" is not a monolith) cultural aspects that makes us "Asians". hahah yeah, i can guess :> i've kinda stopped reading since somehow i got my hands on the comic, and since the comic kind of got bits and pieces from the future books, i've managed to spoil myself on some deets and so i was like... deflated thanks me :( i'll pick it up again for sure, im half way through book 3 :D agree tbh lol yeah, i really had to remove myself as an invested reader to be able to appreciate her arc, tbh. because without thinking about the bigger picture, i did find her extremely annoying lol. but once i step back and think about the world and what kind of world it is for its people to deal with, i manage to gain some appreciation of miura's attempt at this nina character. and yes, agree on the last sentence so much hahaha

ohhh ok so i think my friend conflated demon fetus with the imperfect egg character yeah, moony boy was demon fetus that somehow grew up and attain current form and he's kinda magical because of his conception, even though casca and guts are humans, maybe because he was conceived in the interstice/during the eclipse, he became somewhat not human. and yea i agree he'll play an interesting part in femto's endgame arc yeah > __ < probably > __ <

Casca's feelings are very complicated, I mean, I dont think she'll still hate Guts tho, but she originally fell for Griffith so hard and Griff was always unreachable to her. Even when he's not treating Guts specially, Griff was always slotted to marry someone like Charlotte. But like, in general, i think it was very hard for her to get over that Guts' entrance to the Bank of the Hawk effectively changed so much of the band's dynamic. She used to be his second. Then, Guts was. And then, Guts left. And just as she was able to love them both. And his exit spelled the devastating doom of the band. And then, that whole thing about the eclipse. asjhsdjfhsdf I dont blame her if she hates everything tbh :c

i dont think he has drawn really disturbing arc since lost children. there were some stuff in mozgus' dungeon that was kinda grotesque but nothing like the old arcs. images wise, yeah, there's been some gruesome arts but context and depth wise, i think the tone is lighter and more fantasy and magicky these days.

played bayonetta 1. didnt care much for her character, but it was her overemphasized proportions that really, really hurt my eyes (im an aspiring artist when i do have time to draw, and her anatomy was just .... it was just not right (for me)) (not the boobs either, it was the length of her legs) (oh also her high heels were terrible) (why do women characters fight in high heels?) (even if they work in their fantasy lalaland cuz of ~magic~, game creators creating women characters wearing high heels are statements perpetuating that high heels are stereotypically expected to be worn by women) also why are all "empowered" women characters are always the same type? where are the "empowered" women characters that do not make their sexuality their ONE statement about empowerment?

she didnt seem more gigantic than the other characters in the game though. i can't recall the man character being much shorter, tbh. like, she was taller, but i wouldn't call her 'gigantic'. everyone in that game had proportions that was exaggerated, wasnt it? it wasn't just her. everyone had super long legs/arms/torso. it was game aesthetics or sommit.

Women have proffered their preferences (various, mind you. some are hard core bayonetta fans, who is clearly a sexy character), but there are continuous push to make sure that all women know that sexualization of female figures are almost as if it is a sacred cow that shall not be criticized. No one is making you participate in this thread, you know. But you do come across as disingenuous to many here. hey, im also an artist so i understand how intimate a creation might feel to its creator(s) :) but i think feedbacks make products (and arts) improve over time, so as an artist, i always welcome inputs from others. and yes, of course you are right that most games are a product of a team (some, of large teams) so it isn't completely outlandish to expect that at least some members of said teams would have contributed inputs on to make a certain product better. the fact that some issues (violent content, sexualizations, racisms, etc.) are still pervasive in today's media is disheartening but i can only hope that in some ways progress ARE being made and voices ARE being heard and that in the future we will see a more diverse products that offers options to wider range of audience after all, isolationism is not as attractive, profit-wise. the larger your target market is (and the more inclusive it is), the more success you potentially can yield from your product.

Whilst there are a lot of merits in discussing the relationship between gaming and violence, it occasionally feels as if certain topics are used as a shield to condone other issues being discussed. Kinda makes me sad that we are at page 168 (50ppp) and still women have to fight tooth and nail to basically say that though we do enjoy gaming, we do find that there are a lot to be desired with some aspects of said media. Apparently stating that we would like to change some artistic contents is not as tolerable as asking to change framerate per second or additional weapons or balancing between existing classes. Because if the developer fixes balancing issues in any game, that's censorship, right?

Forum discussion is an exchange of ideas. I donno about others, but I welcome the chance to empathize with others on a public discourse space. Of course criticism is meant to voice that there are rooms for improvements. That change is desired but not mandated since the decision making agency in this case rests with the devs (which can and still will make whatever they want). Criticism IS offered to effect change. But in no way it is not censorship in the way that censorship is defined as censure of others' voices. Tell me, if you find a movie not to be how you like it, and you say a criticism of it.............. do you consider it censorship? O___O?
