at the time, I think that might've been true? (I honestly don't know) but that said, all I know is that Microsoft's engineering team, to pull off what they did in re-engineering the whole system architecture and DRM in the timeframe that they did it, is nothing short of a miracle. The technical achievement they pulled off there was something that got overlooked in all of that. So props to those dudes

No, none of the Judges could play Cyberpunk 2077, so it wasn't eligible. Well the nominees were different so the votes breakdown differently. In Best Console game, Dreams or AC:O could've had votes that ended up going to RE2 in Best of Show (where AC:O and Dreams weren't nominated). Likewise, votes for Spider-Man could've been siphoned off by Anthem in the Best of Show vote.

I think it’s right and here’s why: 2 videos basically in the Top 30. The showcase and open world videos combine for 6.5 million views (combined #5) - with super high L/D ratio. Plus, there’s a metric ton of offsceeen footage out there. I saw a video that solely showed the world from the top of the Empire State Building and it had 250k views. I’ll pull numbers next week but across all platforms and all E3 2018 Spidey videos, the view count will be just as staggering as last year’s.

I just think any attempt to top the lightsaber fight from The Phantom Menace, on Tatooine, with just Maul and Obi-Wan, would never hit the mark. That's why Filoni handled it the way he did. It's perfect as is. Maul's arc ended so well already - and fans of the TV series already know that.

hmm, a little bit perhaps, but seemed like a stylistic choice overall and worked for me fine in Laser IMAX. also - I assumed L3 would end up as the Falcon computer based on all the lines from ESB where Han makes C3PO talk to the Falcon.... they also tied droid brains into I think the Last Jedi novelization as Black One has a droid brain that hasn't been wiped in a long time. When things like that hit the books, it's usually a tie in to something a filmmaker wanted to do --- and with the Kessel Run, the game of Sabacc and everything else, it felt like a lot of the lines about and around the Falcon would be referenced here. I also think it's funny that they had to retcon Corellian Spike... the Force Awakens describes the gold dice as the ones Han used to win the Falcon in a variant of Sabacc that uses dice AND cards. No longer :)

the game went through a really rough spot between Set 2-> Set 3... pretty unbalanced. The first 2 sets were fueled by speculation and you couldn't find it. now it's been stretched out forever between sets, which I largely believe due to excess stock of Set 3 and Set 4 laying around on retailer shelves. Essentially retailers had been putting in insane orders hoping to get 20-30% of their order (at best)... and then at Set 3 and Set 4, those orders were 100% shipped, and suddenly there was a giant glut of product. it's a pity because set 4 is really well designed and the game is in a really good place right now - and it looks like the future sets are going to only continue that Some other warning signs of I've noticed: 1. No kids playing 2. The amount of space a collection takes up... the dice just add a ton of space requirement to the game.

I just remember crying happily the first time I held that controller and experienced the game myself in a Toys R Us. Just magical. It wasn’t even as much how it looked but how it felt. It revolutionized the entire videogame form. We played that game for months. Easily got 100 hours out of it. It’s one of the most important and groundbreaking videogames ever made.

as someone with a full 151 Kanto dex (1st world problems, I know) it's kinda meh but I still find myself checking for damn shinys. still happy for everyone who started in gen 2 or gen 3 cause the spawns look great

yes, when they introduced Shiny Magikarp, a couple people had Shinys replaced by Ditto, and very quickly after that Magikarp stopped yielding ditto.

yeah, I never got a Mewtwo raid doing weekday raids. I quit the game for a bit due to being frustrated by it all. came back, did one bullet-train raid on community day and hit like 8 gyms in 2 hours and got the pass and mewtwo

in LA, a desert biome, Numel is common as hell, and Lileep and Trapinch are rare but not that bad. I see them on the same level as like Shroomish or Electrike here, which are very common elsewhere, I think?

so down to 5 evolutionary chains to finish: Lotad's final stage - 75 candy or so (this high pressure system bringing no rain to LA is KILLING ME) Electrike - 30 candy or so Snorunt - 44 candy Trapinch final stage - 22 candy Milotic - 12 candy. Then need the Gen 3 babies (ugh.....), moon rock, and SE Asia regional to finish off Gen 3 as it currently stands.

so I took a big break last October because I was annoyed by the EX Pass and work was busy. I ended up missing Suicune and Oh-Ho and the ice event (Delibird) while I was at sea. I started playing again a little bit and got re-hooked. Finally got an EX Pass for next week. Got the Pokedex to 327 and have all the regionals except the new SE Asia one. I think I can get the Pokedex to 344 now (missing Ho-Oh, Suicune, Delibird, and the new regional), hopefully some of the legendary bosses make a re-appearance.

I think it's why you see a lot of community oriented games industry people flame out or move on to other things in the industry or outside of it. it takes a toll over time, for sure. Some can compartmentalize that differently than others

the downside of over the years having gone from a 13" to a 20" to a 34" to a 50" to a 55" to a 58" to a 65" is I know sometime in the next few years I'm gonna be springing for a 75-77" flat panel, and that shit is gonna hurt the ole wallet

I haven't followed the later models - but this was actually the recommended setting by calibrators because going from TruMotion 0 to Trumotion 1 doubled the motion resolution of the television on the 6 series - I believe. Or something like that. Anyways, it's not the usual TURN ALL TRUMOTION OFF on the 6 series OLEDs.

We have a Z9D in the office, and it is awesome and cool, but I don't think the extra brightness is THAT much better than the blacks of the OLED. In a proper viewing environment I'd still take the OLED. That said, the Z9D is a good choice, and if it's a particularly bright room, it might be the better selection. It kind of goes back to when I used to sell Plasmas, people would want them on walls with windows and wondering if it was bright enough / glare issues. That may not be the best application. I will say overall, the combination of Dolby Vision and OLEDs has made for cinematic viewing that eclipses a fair number of my actual theatrical experiences in recent years, which is kind of the first time I've actually thought that despite chasing it for 15+ years now

I've played a bunch of classic games via Framemeister and via SNES Classic. no issues there either. it's just not a problem. like, right now, my TV is paused and has been for an hour, I'm not worried about it. I woulda been on my Panny Plasma, but I've done it enough on this TV I know it's not an issue. my only major advice is use the ISF settings and not VIVID etc. If you're in torch mode you're far more susceptible to image retention.

I've had an LG OLED for 2 years. I've had games where I've put 100 hours in. I've watched tons of stuff like CNN or ESPN with static tickers / logos on the screen. There's NO burn-in issue. I have literally left my TV on a paused image for HOURS, on a couple of occaisions, and had no problem. Yes it can sometimes retain imagery for a brief period - but in full color programming, you can't see this for very long or at all. It's been a complete non-issue. Don't set your TV to Vivid, don't be irresponsible with static imagery, and honestly, don't even worry about it that much
