To be fair, I don't think Sato-san said that the Switch isn't a good fit for the Yakuza series because 1 & 2 HD failed on the Wii U. He mentionned the Wii U game only because I mentionned it in my question (I was only using it as an example of a Yakuza game being released on a non-Sony console). He does seem to think that the Switch isn't a good fit for the Yakuza series. But for other reasons.

There are a few newsworthy bits: -Kazuma won't disappear completely and we may see him again someday. -They're often asked about a City Hunter Yakuza spin-off. Daisuke Sato thinks that even though City Hunter also takes place in Shinjuku, the characters don't fit in a Yakuza game as well Hokuto no Ken's do. -Daisuke Sato would love to create Binary Domain 2. The decision rests in SEGA's hands though. -When I asked if we'll see Shun Akiyama again, Daisuke Sato was pretty coy about it and answered: "why not." There are a few fun bits in the interview. I’d love to get localized versions of Kenzan and Ishin. But they’ve made it clear time and time again that there are no plans to localize them. I think we should get over it and be glad that we now get the new games so fast. Besides, I don’t think that it would make sense to release those games now.

During my first (and so far only) trip to Japan back in December 2015 a few fellow journalists and I ended up Kabukichô by luck. Thanks to the Yakuza games, I showed everybody around even though it was my first time there (took everybody to the batting center). Realizing that I was about to see Yakuza's real life locations was quite a trip. It was during the day and we never felt in danger. There was just one old dude who stopped us and used some hand gestures to ask us if we were looking for sex but other than that (and the sometimes explicit shops) it was as if we were in any other neighborhood.

It was probably the Plat that took me the longest in part because I made some mistakes along the way (like opening lockers with Haruka and doing my first run on Hard thinking that it would also unlock the Normal Trophy). Having to finish all the Coliseum with all 4 characters also took a very long time. It took so long that I stopped playing Yakuza 5 for more than a year. At one point I almost thought that I would never get Yakuza 5's Plat.

As the father of a 5 month old girl, the Haruto stuff hit me pretty hard in Yakuza 6. The karaoke song "Hands" that you unlock after finishing the main story almost made me tear up. Very interesting read, thanks! Yakuza 3 is one of my favorites because of the orphanage stuff. I think that it added a lot of depth to Kiryu as a character. And also because it rang true with stuff I’ve been told about growing up in an orphanage. That being said, I finished my first Yakuza 6 play through today. It took me more than 50 hours (I did all the substories, all the Clan Creator missions and Clan Creator-related Trophies, all the baseball games, and a lot of elements from the completion list). I have 88% of the Trophies, I’m just missing the Legend difficulty Trophy and the “Peak Kiryu” Trophy (get him to Level 300). It took me a lot less time to get this far than in previous episodes.

Just got Yakuza 6’s Platinum Trophy. Clearly the series’ easier Platinum to get. Took me 58 hours total. No Trophy was frustrating to get and I enjoyed the experience from beginning to end. Pro tip: make sure that Kiryu’s stats are almost maxed out before you start your Legend run. That way, it’ll be a walk in the park, even without the Golden Gun (which isn’t in the game).

Today, I asked Yu Suzuki what he thinks about Yakuza. I hope to get the full translation of his answer soon but the gist of it is that he is proud of Nagoshi’s work and glad SEGA and not another company is continuing to make that specific kind of open world games (proof that I was with Yu Suzuki: ) I thought that his answer was very classy. He seems to like Nagoshi. I think I heard him call him “Nagoshi-kun” but I’ll have to check my audio file.

I finally got the 100% Completion Trophy yesterday! Now I just have to do a Normal run (which shouldn't give me any trouble) and I'll finally get Yakuza 5's Platinum Trophy. Quite frankly, I thought that Akiyama and Shinada's Coliseum Fights would give me much more of a hard time. But I'm glad I'm done with them! Now I just have to be strong enough to stay away from Yakuza 6 in order to finish up with Yakuza 5.

The only time I got close to giving up in a Yakuza game was when I got to the car chase scene during my Legend difficulty run in Kiwami. I don't know how long I had to play to be able to pass that scene but it almost drove me crazy (especially since you had to redo all the fights before it every time).

Done with the Akiyama Coliseum fights! Only Shinada’s left. I just found out that I haven’t chosen the right upgrades during my original playthroughs so I don’t have the ability to regain some health in exchange for heat. So I had to beat the Komakis in order to be able to go to Level 25. That was a pain as I don’t like Shinada’s fighting style. Now I have to go up two more levels in order to unlock the health regen ability. 99.40% completion. I hope it won’t take me too long to finish up.

I beat them using one of the special "fish spears" (I don't remember which one) which Shinada luckily still had on him from my first playthrough. I'm glad I won't have to do that again. I read somewhere that there are some experience orbs that you can get by upgrading the IF8 machine. I just don't remember if I haven't done that already or not.

After more than a year, and because it's the only Yakuza Platinum Trophy I'm missing, I've restarted playing Yakuza 5. I finished my Extra Hard playthrough and now I "just" have to do a Normal playthrough (I didn't know that doing my first playthrough on Hard wouldn't unlock that Trophy) and do Akiyama and Shinada's Coliseum fights. Going from Kiwami to 5 is a trip. So many slowdowns! If you guys have tips for Akiyama and Shinada's Coliseum fights, I'll gladly accept them!

On the Japanese website, I paid 14,000 yen. But the shipping costs and the customs doubled that. But all in all, I paid a lot less than what it’d have cost me if I had gotten it from eBay or shop that sells Japanese games.

Guys, I just wanted to share with you my latest acquisition. I managed to find a complete Yakuza 3 PS3 at a decent price. I'm so happy! I think it's the best looking PS3 ever released (the packaging kicks ass as well). Now I just have to find where to put it.

Not sure if you guys are aware but during their Yakuza 0 stream last night () Scott and Sam from SEGA said that there won't be any Yakuza-related announcement during PSX next week. They also said that 2018 will be a "great year" for Yakuza.

I've been trying to find one of the background songs heard in various games but so far no luck. It's a song played on the radio (when you play bowling in 0 and Kiwami for example) and it's just kinda basic guitar riffs. I would like to get the chance to hear a clearer version without the background noise. Also, I think we should so to the official Xbox website to ask for Binary Domain to be added to the list of backwards compatible game. I have it on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 but I'd like to play it again on my Xbox One.

This year, Gameblog will hold its 2017 Gameblog Awards ceremony at the Moulin Rouge (yes, that Moulin Rouge). Our readers get to vote for the Reader's Choice Award and Yakuza 0 is on the list. I tried my best to get Yakuza 0 nominated in the Action-Adventure category but it faced some strong competition this year and Yakuza isn't very popular in France (because of the lack of French subtitles).

Made the switch from the old forum (used to be "backflip" there). Glad to find everyone here. I managed to get 0's Platinum Trophy and the car chase on Legend difficulty almost made me give up. The only Platinum Trophy I'm missing is 5 but I'll probably never have time to go back to it (I did my first playthrough on Hard and thus I have to go through the story two more times and still have Akiyama's Colisseum fights to finish and they're too much of a pain). Spent like 25 minutes on Yakuza 6 at Paris Games Week and I loved it. Can't wait to play the full game.

Has anybody mentioned Haruki Satomi’s behavior during the Shenmue segment of the SEGA Fes livestream? I rewatched it today and was shocked by how disrespectful he was towards SEGA Europe’s John Clark. He made fun of his belly and of the way he sounded when he tried to speak Japanese at the end. That was pretty mean spirited. Starts at 56:20 in the video below.
