Me and my wife talk about this. From her perspective, ripped abs and oiled pecks are a male gaze fantasy, not a female one. She cites these images of Hugh Jackman, quite often: They're clearly marketed at different demographics and demonstrate the difference in general appeal. My wife's biggest man-crushes from video games are actually characters like Fenris from DA2, Regis from TW3: Blood and Wine, Kaz Miller from MGSV and - more recently - Connor from Detroit: Become Human.

Eh, I doubt my choice would come as any surprise... though I did love DRIVECLUB, GOW and HZD, as well. BB just edges the others out, though. On the other hand, from a purely technical perspective, it's probably the most underwhelming first-party Sony have published this generation - always room for improvement I guess.

Yup we support a huge breadth of languages and local teams across our European territories - PlayStation.com, for example, is supported in full in 37 territories and 22 languages just in Europe - a limited version exists in several others, like Iceland, Israel and Kuwait too.

Nintendo have been cutting their own groove in the industry for the last decade or more - I wouldn't expect them to enter the main competitive space with PS, XB and Steam and start chasing flagship western AAA properties (which appears to be the trust of the argument here). For me, the Switch makes way more sense when you accept it for what it is - and it's great - but demanding it to be something else is a quick way to feel frustrated.

Okay, my wording was wrong here - I was mocking his excuse that 'it was something we all said as kids', as in yeah, people do say dumb mean shit when they're too young to understand the ramifications. It's not an excuse for being a total shitbag when you're old enough to know better. This was not in anyway a defense of this asshat. And he shouldn't be retiring shitty-ass behaviour like this just because he's worried about his bottom line. He should be doing it because it's the right damn thing to do. Totally agreed. When and where I grew up a base level of general homophobia, racism and sexism was just the norm. If he grew up in a similar sort of situation I can understand, we don't choose where or when we're born. But that's no excuse for a grown-ass man, who lives his life on the internet no less, to still be behaving that way decades later. That's not to say it's okay to be that way as a kid and if I heard any young person speak that way, I'd call them out. It always shitty, but when you're a kid you can at least say you didn't know better. His fucking excuse is dumb.

First time playing through - amazing game so far but I've just reached the Demon Ruins and I can't stop giggling - people we're not kidding when they said it was unfinished. Even the enemy AI is borked. I was trying to use my bow to pull the capra demons one-at-a-time but they just stood there taking the hits until they dropped dead. I'd be offended, but it's so bad I can't help but giggle.

Yeah, first half has definitely been tighter, but I think overall the level of quality is pretty consistent, I've not yet found Lost Izalith and I've only explored a little of the Tomb of the Giants so I've got a little way to go. Would have preferred one more brightly lit area towards the end as it's gotten a bit oppressive during the last few hours. Still having a blast though.

Thread: Dark Souls 1 seems to be looked upon fondly? I can't help but criticise it for all its flaws.
Remastered was my first time playing through DS1, having completed DS2, played two thirds through DS3 and platinumed Bloodborne. I can say it's among the best in the series and despite having some obvious signs of age, it's an incredible game. I even kinda love The Demon Ruins, for just being so obviously broken and incomplete that it's just amusing. It also has the most straightforward and unambiguous story that makes reasonable sense without reading 300 item descriptions and consulting Fextralife - after the general obtusity of latter games, it was actually rather a breath of fresh air.
