It's usually a single payout that's something like one third of your annual salary. Because that could be quite expensive, though, some people think companies tend to avoid external recruiter candidates unless they're really desperate, and/or they low-ball them because of the increased cost. Additionally, even though the system is setup in a way where it's in the recruiter's interest to negotiate a higher salary for you, in reality they can still make more money (and reduce their risk of non-payment if things don't work out) by quickly placing more candidates, so maybe it's actually in their best interest to take low-ball offers and move on quickly. It's something to think about, at least.

No, they shouldn't cost money. Don't ever pay for that. Generally what happens is you talk with a recruiter who looks over your qualifications and expectations and then presents you to whichever of their clients that might need someone like you. The agency gets paid a percentage of your salary after you've been employed for three months, usually. It's done this way, I think, because it then becomes in their interest to negotiate a better salary for you so they get paid more for the placement.

I think there's a really fine line between impostor syndrome and Dunning-Kruger effect. I lean more heavily into the former, personally, but I've been told by both former managers and colleagues that it's important to just fake like I know what I'm doing so others feel comfortable coming to me for help. Where are you located? If you're in the US or Canada, you probably want to look at companies like EA, Epic, Activision/Blizzard, and big companies with lots of money and domestic development. I don't recommend working for any Japanese company. EDIT: Oh yeah, and Amazon and MS. I understand Amazon is hiring a lot for the Lumberyard team.

I read the rest of your post, but I didn't want to quote the whole thing. If I were you, I would move. I don't think your situation at your current company will change in six months, and I think they are just pulling your leg by telling that so that you'll stay for another six months before they tell you again that there's no budget. I wouldn't worry about the other place consisting of mostly assholes, either. It probably won't be the case, and even if it is, you don't have to stay there, either. You can just bounce after a while and take the higher salary.

This might be a fucked up thing to say, but I feel like The Cracked Podcast has been on the uptick in quality since Cracked laid almost everyone off. The shows are back down to an hour (whereas it almost ran for three before and felt super bloated), and the topics and guests have been more interesting. I think the general consensus of what the biggest problem with this season here is that there were just too many people on the show for career/exposure purposes. I don't know if that's because there were more Americans this time—especially in the audience, and maybe that's what they think we want to see, based on our reality shows (which is what I see whenever I watch The Bachelor; no one is there for love, so whoever gets to be the bachelor for next season is the real winner)—but I definitely also felt that this season felt too "American" to me in a way I couldn't really put my finger on.

Personally, I found Taishi to be more and more admirable as the series went on. At first, I was just like Kentaro ("he's insane"), but Taishi grew on me as a main character, especially in his interactions unrelated to his pursuit of love. Possibly this is due to how ass many of the other cast members were, though.

So, having just moved from LA to the Bay Area, I've noticed that there seems to be a slight cultural difference in terms of perception of Asians. Here, it feels more integrated, whereas in SoCal, there's more a sense of "other," despite it being miniscule. On the other hand, it feels a lot more corporate here. Whereas down there, people would ask, "What do you do?" Here, it's, "Where do you work?" Like, your identity is tied to whichever megacorp employs you. Also, like every other car is a Tesla here.

Went to Tokyo Disneysea today. Here's a shot of the entrance plaza from the train station. Here's a shot after getting in. Toy Story mochi. It's a neapolitan set: one is filled with chocolate, one vanilla, and one strawberry custard. Seafood pasta set from a restaurant Another shot from the train station Triton's Castle Not Agrabah. Looks like it, but it's a generic Arabian theme. Unpainted Threepio parts Overall, the park is like a better put-together version of California Adventure. The theming is on point. The rides, however, are kind of ass. The waitress are longer, and the rides feel slower. Narration is completely in Japanese. Here's something I got from 7-Eleven just now.

I'm down. As you might remember, one of the problems we had at GAF was that a lot of posters felt it was a-okay to throw around casual racism toward Asians. I think them being able to pop in here and see that we really don't like that could help them understand that it's not okay. I worked with someone who did coke (and other stuff) in the past. He was a cool person who suffered a lot of personal trauma all at once, and he turned to the nose candy, and it made him a completely different and unbearable person. I ended up helping him get another job so he could leave us alone. He's clean now, but we don't really talk anymore. One thing about your friend, though, if he'll still listen to logic: if he's all about money now, one thing to address is that the coke is going to drain the shit out of his finances, as he's going to need to buy more and more to get the same high.

The thing is they just have so much more leverage on internal candidates, since they know your current salary and know that what they'll offer you is better than what you currently have such that you will probably accept. Realistically, when it comes to a raise or promotion, your choices are just to take it or leave it, and they know you'll probably take it. I did it. I have a friend who did it, too, and we are both now making a lot more than we did before. That said, I wouldn't necessarily say I recommend it, but the amount of time I took to do interviews in the month or so that I was off likely would have gotten me fired if I'd taken it on company time. I also felt like I interviewed better, as well, since I didn't have to squeeze them out during lunchtime or something.

One thing I've never liked about this show (and lots of other shows, really) is that incredibly powerful beings will show up and just throw people around and/or use soft punches on the main characters, even though we've already seen them instantly kill things that are supposed to be stronger than the main characters previously. Like, Michael shows up and just backhands Castiel and shoves Sam into a wall. Just kill them, dude.

I like this season more than last, actually. While the Men of Letters is an excellent concept, it kind of falls apart in execution whenever they try to do anything with it. I think a major problem is that, for a group with so much knowledge and tech, it makes no sense that they would be wiped out. I also like that they adding a lot of new lore that no one knows about (even if I do have some quibbles about some of it). I think the only thing that isn't too my liking is that we hardly see regular monsters and new monsters anymore. It's just angels, demons, and the common werewolves and vampires. They haven't needed to do research in some time. Also, regarding the angel situation, what about reapers? Or are they not angels again?

I don't know. I thought that was a good-ass episode, even if it is light on the supernatural elements. It was a tad predictable about the blood, of course, but fetch quests are always kind of lame. Anyway, here's what I think will happen at the end of the season: Jack will fuck up Michael but will stop short of killing him. Then Michael will use this opportunity to really mess up Jack, but he will be killed right before he lands the final blow by Lucifer or Gabriel (I'm leaning Lucifer). Jack will then choose to stay in the alt-world to help out the people there, and we won't see him again. He's just way too powerful an ally to have around. Mary will probably also stay.

The thing is, Lucifer would have known, but perhaps he didn't really want to kill Gabe. That aside, though, here's what I'm thinking: "Asmodeus" is really Gabriel, and the fucked up dude in the cage is Asmodeus. His mouth is sewn shut so he can't tell anyone who he is. That's how Asmodeus can shapeshift like that, despite Lucifer never giving him that ability, and Lucifer is/was too weak to see through the ruse. That's also why he isn't afraid of Lucifer, who should be leagues and leagues beyond him.

Also, the actor looks a lot like Richard Speight, Jr. from certain angles. But yeah, it wouldn't be the first time ol' Gabe cosplayed as something that's supposed to be quite powerful but actually way weaker than him, and the first time, Castiel couldn't see through his trickster disguise, either. It's just that I don't really see what his motivation is here--particularly in wanting Jack to free those whatever things from the depths.

Oh yeah, so also, it looks like we might have some more clarification about the limitations of the Colt. Demons obviously know about it, and they also say that only an archangel's sword can kill an archangel (which isn't actually true, but I guess as weapons go, sure). So we now have two possibilities for the list of five things in Creation it cannot kill: 1. Archangel 2. ? 3. ? 4. ? 5. ? 1. Lucifer 2. Michael 3. Gabriel 4. Raphael 5. ? God and The Darkness obviously aren't part of Creation, so they wouldn't be on the list. Other possibilities include Death, Leviathan, and maybe whatever Asmodeus is trying to dredge up.

Well, going by season 5, we only knew that it can't kill Lucifer, and we had to guess that applied to the whole class of archangels, but now it seems to be confirmed, work Asmodeus and Ketch saying that only an archangel's sword can kill an archangel. And yeah. I'm not so sure it can't kill Death anymore. Regarding Leviathan, though, I think it's a strong contender for being one of the things because God had Metatron inscribe a whole tablet just to lay out how to kill them. I doubt He'd go through all the trouble if other things could do it. I do wonder if the Hand of God artifacts could be more powerful, though. Lucifer sure thought they could kill Amara, at least. I think of the weapons we've seen, their power ranking should shake out something like this: 1. Hand of God 2. Archangel sword 3. Death's scythe 4. The Colt 5. Angelic arsenal, including the Spear of Destiny 6. Angel blade 7. Ruby's knife

"Nothing comes back from [the Empty]," but Castiel does a few times. Plus, if even a lesser being like Jack (who is albeit extremely powerful) can wake someone up there, I don't see why God or Amara couldn't. Maybe archangels are just heavy sleepers? Me, too. The thing is, that's nonsense, too. Sam and Dean are human. When they die, they'll enter the Veil, and then a reaper will take them to Heaven or Hell, as would happen with any other human. So they would actually still be around and be accessible if they are needed, as we already know that angels, demons, reapers, etc. can revive people whenever.

Wow, this was a damn good episode. S11 quality, easily. I can't say I'm too excited for Cas to be back already, though. We were finally getting some Sam-centric episodes, and I'm afraid it'll just go back to being the Dean Show, feat. Cas for another decade. But yeah, how about that Empty thing, eh? Looks like we get another being at God's level, and it seems like reapers know about him. Hopefully he wakes up Gabe. And I guess Death, if he really is dead. I think it's something necessary to tie up a loose end. Like, it's been established that everything goes somewhere when it dies--even monsters go to Purgatory. So it makes sense that angels and demons would go somewhere too when they die. Presumably other things go there, too, like Leviathans that actually die. Dick Roman is probably there.

We went to Maui for a babymoon and accidentally ate some swordfish. It was fine, but be sure to ask what type of fish you're going to get if you're concerned. Remember that the higher up the food chain you go, the higher the concentration of mercury could be in the fish, so maybe avoid apex predators like shark and swordfish.

Yeah, it's definitely time to go. We waited until he had pretty much a full set of teeth, but the dentist actually said we should have gone earlier. If possible, try to find a dentist that specializes in pediatric care; it was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. Yeah, we were also told we should have been doing that, but of course we had no idea, so we didn't do it. Whoops. The dentist did say that we need to be brushing his teeth regularly, with toothpaste, though. We have Crest for Kids or whatever it's called. Brush twice a day with about a rice grain's sized amount of toothpaste. Dentist recommended morning brushing breakfast (so the fluoride lasts longer), and don't let him fall asleep with a bottle in his mouth, as the milk can leak onto his teeth and cause problems. Breastfeeding he says is also not okay, but we kind of didn't listen. Some online research indicated that it might actually be okay, since the nipple doesn't leak unless it's being suckled. There are also two important sources for fluoride: topical and systemic. Topical is from brushing with fluoride toothpaste, and systemic is from fluoridated drinking water. Be aware that reverse osmosis water filters will remove fluoride, so that's something you might want to check. Our system is RO, so I'm a little concerned that he isn't getting enough systemic fluoride, which plays a role in growing healthy teeth.

Are there any industry-specific sites for you? If not, LinkedIn is a good resource, as are Indeed and other job finding sites. Ideally, it's better to see a listing and apply directly from the company site if you can, but you should still keep your LinkedIn profile updated, with your search preference set to let recruiters know you're looking.

I did four interviews to get my current job, and the whole process took a bit under a month. I'd give them two weeks before following up. During that time, I also interviewed 3+ times with a couple other companies and didn't get those jobs. One of them was super slow on follow ups and didn't speed things up until after I told them I had an offer.

If I were to guess, your next session will consist of a panel of interviews with people of various levels and disciplines, which will require a lot of people's schedules to sync up before it can be scheduled. That's most likely why it takes so long. The only thing throwing it off is the "soon," which could possibly be a bad sign (as opposed to a set or even vague timeframe when you should hear back). I've read that it's good practice to ask about next steps and when to expect them in each interview. But, really, there no way to tell what's really going on. I'd give another week and follow up.

I think it's situational. In my experience, if they come to you with an opportunity, it's worth it because that means the company hired them to find someone and they found you. But on the other hand, I've never had luck when approaching them, and I don't like ceding control to them regarding where they apply me to. They're paid for by the company, so they don't take your pay. It's worth keeping in mind that they are incentived to move as many people as possible, so they might not have your best interest in mind when negotiating compensation.

The silver lining is that you also get a lot more time to focus and do interviews. I'd recommend getting your certs while you're still working, if possible.

I've done a few of these recently. I think the biggest thing is to have in your head at least three or four stories from your experience regarding things like critical thinking, conflict resolution, great successes and failures, collaboration, pushing back against management, and so on. Personally, I would write these down. I never look at what I wrote, but it keeps it fresh in my mind. Also, while there aren't going to be many technical questions on hard skills, remember that there will still be some, so don't neglect them as you prepare for the behavioral stuff.

When you do this, you should copy all the questions from other people who interviewed for the position from Glassdoor and then . I've found that they never actually ask me any of those questions, but it helps a lot for prepping for their questions in general, and you might be able to bring in some information from one of those answers you wrote down for something else.

I wasn't expecting to leave my job the way I did and felt/feel betrayed by my former boss. I also have a wife and son, so there's extra pressure on me to get something as soon as possible. They want to move things along very quickly, though, so the logistics will be tough. I'll probably have to go up before my wife and son, and then we'll need to figure out what to do with our house. Plus, we have dogs, so that's another thing to deal with. Group as in group of applicants? Or do you mean you'll be talking with a group of interviewers? I have no experience with the former, but if it's the latter, most likely one person will do most of the talking, but try to at least address everyone.

Dante and Vergil are young and inexperienced then, but by the time DMC4 rolls around, Dante is 100% fucking around, and nothing is a threat to him. Heck, it's telling that the final boss of Bloody Palace is him! Yeah, I think it doesn't help that Nero's DT brings out a huge spirit that follows him around while using Yamato. It's not hard to see that it's Vergil in spirit form.

Most likely scenario in my head is that the game opens on a demon outbreak, Nero swings into action, and then that scene happens. Nero starts with the new arm so you don't start at full power, and we see him losing his arm via flashbacks.

Despite the absolute inventory management system, I really liked Xenoblade 1. I never ended up finishing it, though, because it felt like, at a certain point, they just tried to dump every single JRPG subsystem that exists onto the player, and I got overwhelmed by it all. There are individual growth trees, skills, equipment, gems/accessories, freaking crafting, lots of characters, character relationships, side quests, town building, random treasures, etc. It was just too much.

So, I know FF6 isn't the first to do it, but it really is the one for me where all of the characters started to feel same-y. I think of it has to do with the magic system, where everyone can learn every spell, and magic is far and away the most useful thing in the endgame (barring ridiculous things like X-Strike with Atma Weapon). It feels like, even though there are a lot more characters, your party setup doesn't really matter, unlike with, say, FF4, where every character is very distinct.

Regarding BO, there was one year I assigned this guy to help staff a client's booth at a convention. A few hours into the show, the client called and complained about his BO. We had to go out and buy spray deodorant and have him use it. Wouldn't his work number, if you need him, just be 9-1-1?

Damn. And here I was, just complaining to her that all her tumblers aren't dishwasher safe. Time to re-evaluate marriage? They are kind of small for full-sized socks. Like you can probably squeeze a few pairs in, but I don't know if there's enough space for them to get thoroughly cleaned.
