You can forgive folks for not realising that. They dropped the numbering and, for a narrative driven series, put out a engine tech demo devoid of narrative. Lot's of folks won't have clue it's "Halo 6" just going by watching the trailer. It's looks amazing though. The trailer is beautiful.

The treatment of the characters in and around Halo 4 would make Geroge Lucas the new Shakespeare in comparison. It's a damm mess. And yeah, Didact isn't dead, comes back, uses a half dozen Composers, Chief and Blue Team beat him, composes him. It's as much as a resolution as actual Halo 4 ending. It's a mess. And come Halo 5 it's all ignored. Completely. And this isn't some b-team or side characters. It's damm Chief. And the main Halo 4 protagonist.

Removing everything to do with the Chief and Cortana, making it a side story with Osiris and Arbie, could have worked. But the Chief is the main draw for the marketing, fronting Luke Cage alone wouldn't have worked well.
