Thread: Happy 19th Birthday Silent Hill! Masahiro Ito shares some non-PS1 Midwich School Environments

Got around to watching this video. It's really cool have many references they managed to litter through the entire game. I was playing SH3 over the weekend, and there are so many similar posters and references in the environment. I wish someone did a similar analysis of SH3.

I'd love a long video detailing all the easter eggs. Also, this is mostly just a coincidence in terms of P.T., as many of those involved in SH1-4 simply were not affiliated with the teaser (although much of the team was sucked into Kojima Productions during MGS4 and subsequent releases)

The twitter thread explains quite clearly that what you're talking about is exactly the way that people do not want to listen to those who are targeted and then when they continously refuse to understand why it's a problem that they don't listen, they start getting red-pilled because those nice, comfortable nazis tells them that it's the "ctrl+left" that's the problem.

This is such an important read, especially for those who are usually averse to these conversations and who thinks that "the left" are mean and that if it wasn't for them, people wouldn't turn into nazis: During and after Gamergate, I've seen so many fall into this trap and there are already a bunch of them on this site as well who are fulfilling the role of "alt-lite" because they feel that the left is mean, but the far-right people are nice and welcoming. You may even find some of these cases in this very thread. I think this deserves to be in the OP if you feel like it

I'm trying to use HattiWatti's Cinematic Tools for Dark Souls 3, but the Extreme Injector won't start all of a sudden. Same thing with the other cameras, such as AC: Syndicate that previously worked (and same thing with Otis' cameras). Does anyone know if a recent Windows update made it impossible to start Extreme Injector? EDIT: I had to download a newer version of EI on some weird site and now it at least runs.

wow thank you Benditormenta for the compliments. of course I'll share them - it's just the Enhanced Clarity preset with some tweaks here and there. Here is the link to my version: However, be aware that the sharpening is a bit high and you may want to turn both LumaSharpening and the other one a bit down if it's too much. Luckily the sharpening filters are lessened and improved much more if you play the game in 4K.

Yeah I saw this on Twitter as well. Just after giving a talk on lethal police violence even. Her activism was inspiring to many, it seems, but it's so extremely sad and depressing how this happens and people get away with it (and the moderates remain silent). Incredibly disheartening. I'm not sure what to do as an activist myself when the opposition has weapons and the willingness to use them, while the society we live in implicitly work in tandem with the fascists because the status quo is preferable to them. How can we even begin to guard ourselves or build resistance without this very physical and mental threat that the enamored fascists use against anyone who dares criticize their power? Movement building and organizing of course, but when you're being targeted and followed, the situation becomes a million times worse.

And Russia stuff too. Regardless, it's hilarious that US news media is so pre-occupied with interviewing and covering everything from lower social class Trump voters to dapper neo-nazis, but they can't even be bothered to cover the actual worker struggles such as the WV teacher strike. Again, when US news media talks about 'hearing both sides' and covering all the news, it's just only giving a platform to right-winged and far-right views, while always excluding and erasing any form of leftist views. It's why the NY Times hires conservatives to troll liberals about free speech or climate change, but they won't hire socialists.

Regardless of Black Panther's comfortable politics and adherence to the political economy of white supremacist patriarchal capitalist media factories like Disney, it is still a great film on a surface level on a representational level, much moreso than any other US comfort food that is the status quo garbage Disney produces. It's a great comic book hero film, but as expected given its context of production, it is not radical or visionary in its criticism of the status quo. But the fact that it manages to introduce the topics in question (which you'll see when you watch it) is deserving of acclaim. Plus it has the best female characters in all of those previous US factory films. The memes are entertaining though: @bombsfall had the best recent take on it in terms of my view on it (which soooo many other people now have):

As other academics and researchers have pointed out in regards to the political economy of the internet and its deployment in the US, the problem isn't necessarily those exploiting it to spread and organize around their ideology, but the fact that the communication structure allows it. I.e. it's not the "Russians" that are the problem, but the way that social media capitalist companies relies on advertisements and surveillance capitalism to spread certain messages. and check out Zeynep Tufekci's research as well on what the Russian interference means. On top of that, I've seen more coordinated attacks from the so-called alt-right than the revelations unearthed about these Russian bots and their creators. I.e. it is the nature of contemporary US capitalist social media technologies that is being 'gamed', and it's not exclusive to Russia, but a host of political and economic interests. Then you have the absolute hypocrisy of US citizens suddenly caring about election interferrals that on an international level is completely laughable and once again peak hypocrisy of US exceptionalism. Then you have this whole Russian thing being used as a scape goat to detract from the very real and catastrophic problems that the US as an imperialist, white supremacist capitalist society suffer from. Suddenly the institutions and public discourse have to worry about 13 individuals who used a bunch of fake social media accounts and events to sow political disagreements? But let's not talk about the mass surveillance complex that corporations and government cooperate in. Let's not talk about the way that social media filters and extracts money from the surveillance of its users. Let's not talk about the failures of the political landscape in the US to even remotely offer any form of criticism of capitalism or the extreme wealth inequality that the society excludes and how millions of people are suffering because the system does not work and both liberals and conservatives are in protection of this tragic status quo. I mean, there's so much bullshit and so much catastrophic suffering caused by US society, both domestically and internationally, historically and in present days, but suddenly the big grievance is the way that a group used social media to sow discord among an already polarized society.

I definitely agree with this, but maybe it’s just the academic bubble I work in, but if you look at leftist intellectuals like Evgeny Morozov, Christian Fuchs, Zeynep as I mentioned, Alexander, Scott Timcke, Tim Maughan (lots of dudes, sorry) and the entirety of the critical digital communication studies, all specifically adressing your (or our) concerns about manipulation via contemporary capitalist social media technologies, while keeping in mind that Russian interference is a symptom of the larger problem with Facebook and Twitter and Instagram and so forth. I don’t know, I think the analysis of media should tell us what this whole Russia thing about and it should make it clear that the problem isn’t “Russia”, but the infrastructure of the Internet. Btw, Westminster Press have some really great open access monographs and anthologies if anyone’s interested in a critical academic analysis of digital technologies, capitalism and imperialism. Thread: Socialism |OT| The Dawn of a Red Era

Zero warnings ever. Zero PMs from anyone. Zero communication from the staff. Suddenly I found out that I've been banned from ever making any threads and I had to contact the staff to figure what was going on. Apparently some of the admins don't like the threads I make because of the way I frame them - even though it's literally just copy-paste headlines and text from the articles I post. This is coming from the higher levels of the staff apparently, and they feel that my threads criticizing either the political aspects of games (work conditions, diversity, corporate white-washing) or US imperialism/environmentalism/capitalism/failure of democracy are not genuine and only aimed to create controversy. They do not realize that whatever controversy is generated from me highlighting a political issue should be an indication of how hegemony works - that those who are offended by simply *talking* about e.g. representation or work conditions or capitalism or US imperialism want to shut the conversation or the topic down. To me it has never been about generating controversy, but to bring those conversations and topics that are usually excluded or marginalized to the surface and make aware to enthusiasts & liberals of what's going on beyond trivial "what's your favorite weapon in Z?" or "X game has sold Y amount of units to the benefit of this publisher" or "Can you believe Trump did X/Y/Z today?!?!" discussions - besides, if anyone ever felt offended by a thread on e.g. the representation of fatness in games, they could simply just ignore it, so I'm not sure where the specific admin is coming from. Finally, from a procedural point of view, the staff could've warned me or told me that some were considering removing my thread privileges, so that I could've adjusted or paid heed to some of their complaints about what I post. But I received absolutely nothing and I've never received any warnings before. Which tells me that it was someone looking for an excuse to ban me. And now my ability to make threads is pretty much gone (first time in 10 years), to the joy of those far-right people who stalk and harass those of us who criticize the status quo. I guess the function of this action by the staff is to "keep politics out of games", so to speak, and it saddens me that the staff aren't aware of what signals they're sending and whose feelings they are prioritizing (i.e. the feelings of those who are offended that anyone dares to talk about representation in games, work conditions in the industry, US imperialism, environmentalism, etc.) . Anyway, it's just a forum, no big deal, and my time should be spent better elsewhere than here, but I'd say that this place is a bit more conservative and right-winged than I imagined it to be.

I apologize if anyone on the staff feels personally attacked or hurt by this - that was not my intention. And I didn't get from our very short conversation that the staff agreed there was a "lapse in communication" or about the process in which the staff decided that my threads should be removed entirely from Era. The conversation that I've had *after* suddenly being juniored out of nowhere was hardly explanatory in the issues I brought up to you and I didn't get clarification or answer to my worries about the implication of this junioring, nor the fact that the accusation that I was framing them wrongly didn't make sense, since I was literally copy-pasting headlines from the articles themselves. I've written three long messages on the implications and the background for why a specific contingent of posters are upset by my threads, as well as the fact that there are literally people stalking and harassing posters like me who are outspoken. The people who are happy with the staff's decision are the ones who are disgusted when they see any conversation on anti-capitalism, feminism, anti-racism, environmentalism, US imperialism, etc., especially in regards to "their" video games, and they're the same ones who are doxxing and threatening people here. So why should we take their feelings into account because I share articles they would like to censor? And why do it in a way that completely blindsides me and tells me that someone on the mod team would rather forego protocol and warnings in order to entirely remove my thread-making privileges when I've had a complete clean record? And like I said, it's fine if this is what the admins desired, but I worry about where their priorities lie and whose feelings are being protected in this scenario - it tells me that bringing up socialist and feminist perspectives on here is less tolerated than those who would rather have such removed - so the narrative of this being a progressive community seems flawed if those are the feelings that are considered. I might have arrived at a different conclusion if someone had warned or reprimanded me beforehand, instead of this power-move to entirely shut down any threads related to the politics that I find interesting and important to bring up. But all of this could've been avoided if anyone would've PM'ed or warned me. In any case, it is what it is and there's not much to do about it. I figured it was okay to share my experience with others here on Era and perhaps let other people remember the importance of marginalized topics, but I didn't intend for anyone to feel personally attacked - for that I of course apologize.

Everything post-Trump has just reminded me of the time I innerly despised the US for George W. Bush and the public support of him. Liberals are just as imperialistic and pro-war as the openly fascists, and they are just as easy to deflect and project from the very own problems that give rise to the pain and suffering that the US as a society inflicts domestically and internationally upon millions of people. The whole 'Putin is behind it all!!!" is the psychological mechanism to externalize and project the problems with the US onto an exterior threat, so that they don't have to face the murder and torture that all citizens in power are complicit in. Watch liberals think that the problems end with Trump. Watch liberals forget all about the bad shit embedded into the fabric of US society, such as the prison industrial complex, wealth inequality/capitalism, war crimes, mass surveillance, healthcare, etc.. Watch liberals white-wash George W. Bush, despite him being a war criminal (oh wait, they've already done that). I get so furious about this casual approach to murder of non-US citizens and the perception of Manning just underscores how horrible these pro-war liberals can be.

I am certainly not discounting any influence as such and I don't know why some people are lead to believe that "leftists" are denying the importance of a foreign country meddling to various extents with another country's election. But the volume that especially mainstream media (ugh I hate that term) blow up the issue and the delusion that liberals think that the major offense is Russia using bots and social media to influence an election and not the hyper-capitalist, white supremacist society that is it, is eye-rolling and it actively removes the blame from the US as a society to an external enemy. And the consequence is that energy and attention is spent on a Russian boogeyman, and you end up with tinfoil hat liberals who see Russian Agents everywhere (like we see in the Manning thread). And that's not addressing the hypocrisy of liberals suddenly caring about the validity of elections after the countless times that US empire has fucked over so many democratic processes in the name of imperial capital. But I don't really care about Putin or whatever the story is, I'm only talking about the liberal handling of the Trump and the failure of US society: it just tells me that they don't really care about their own problems and the reasons for why hundreds of millions of people suffer. Same thing with 9/11, there is no pause for reflection, just immediate action and unapologetic mass-murder.

I'm so frustrated with (US) liberals. At least conservatives/republicans/fascists are honest about their ideology and their self-perception, but US liberals spout progressiveness, humility, and empathy, yet they don't give two shits about the poor and bombing brown folks. And then there's the fixation on Trump as if he's the only problem and not US society as a whole. They have such lack of self-awareness about the shit their own country does and it's totally okay as long as it's their team that's in charge of extrajudicial murder, mass surveillance, mass incarceration, voter disenfranchisement, NoDAPL, apartheid, bombing other countries, neoliberal economic policies, defense of capitalism, etc. A recent example in 'liberal' circles is also the fixation on Chinese mass-surveillance and how it's framed as this Eastern totalitarian state, while the US and UK are land of the free and brave. Basically:

I am skeptical because it might be co-opted by libertarians & liberals to be used to dismantle welfare systems because "now people have their own income, so "we" don't need to pay for societal "services"" and thus you get even more privatization. It also might propagate a neoliberal ideology by individualizing societal responsibilities by saying that each person now has their own basic income, so they are now free to do whatever they want with that money and responsible for their own individual well-being (as neoliberal subjects). But it's a good idea, but with how flexible and efficient capitalism is in co-opting and appropriating human existence and phenomena, I fear that this policy could be co-opted and transformed into the benefit of capitalism.

I recently read this wonderful book by Andreas Malm from Lund University. It might be a brick, but it's written so well that you basically just run through it. It's published by the very, very excellent publisher Verso Books (who I have many even more positive things to say about). Malm traces the introduction of fossil fuels to the industrialized society as a result of capitalism and it's a very thorough and investigative analysis. Highly, highly recommended. Malm's next research is about Fossil Empire which I can't wait to read more about.

Sorry, I didn't specify - yes, it's not necessarily about masturbation as such, just about general levels of visually pandering to straight dudes. My point still stands in regards to your clarification or nuance, since I'm wondering that attractiveness has to be everywhere for these people and any form of challenge or questioning of this is met with a stubborn refusal to even let go of one instance of attractiveness. I guess it is basically a question of power. Any relinquishment of a position of power is seen as an attack and the maintenance of this position of power needs to be defended.

I would add something that usually gets lost in the question of 'add women and stir' when it comes to issues of better representation: Often we think that the games industry simply needs more women / minorities (which is true), but this argument often ends up doing two things 1) that women/minorities all think alike and 2) it removes the responsibility of white men to do better and take the charge. Especially point 2 is something that I think we end up reproducing by letting white men off the hook and not improve themselves in how they view and depict other groups that they are not exposed to or talk to.

I posted this in another thread, but I figured this would get more constructive replies here: why do straight male gamers have to have their dick hard on all the time? There's already a plethora of porn online that they can jack off to, there's already sex in most advertising, and media is already saturated with attractive women for straight dudes to be happy about. There's so much straight male dick strocking material out there, why does it have to be *everywhere*, even in almost all major games, when other posters for example say "maybe a little bit less sex in games please"? Have their been studies or articles on this constant need to have eroticism everywhere in their world?

They need it by virtue of the hostility and the defensiveness when someone even remotely suggests that maybe we could have less sexually objectified female characters in the games. You'll see tons of more honest responses like "I like attractive girls so I don't want to let it go" to weird arbitrary rationalizations like "straight sex sells" to "if you don't like it, go do something else", etc. Like there's sex aimed at straight dudes all throughout society, but even a modicum of challenge to this is met with a strong refusal to even let go of just a couple of instances of sexualization. This is what I'm getting at.

The games industry had a misogynist hate movement that made national and international news outlets, so nothing surprises me of whatever misogyny spawns out of the reactionary culture of games. It tries to shit on universal basic income, i.e. making the dumb libertarian argument that if everybody gets what they need and no longer have to work to survive, everyone ends up being lazy and docile. It's implicitly an approval on wealth inequality and the notion that people deserve to die if they are not working, because they'll just end up being lazy if they get the basic means to survive.

The "voting with your wallets" sentiment that posters like and are advocating is in my experience with the argument just a way to 1) shut down criticism by making qualitative feedback irrelevant and 2) reduces human experience and communication to an entirely economic endeavor, 3) humans are only worth respecting thanks to their impact on the market. The argument rests on the some incredibly dangerous implications - that people only matter by virtue of their buying power and they do not have any moral rights as human agents. It is the exact same neoliberal logic that Adrienne Shaw criticizes in Gaming at the Edge where marginalized groups are only included if they are a sizeable market for capitalism. It is perhaps one of the most cynical arguments I encounter in these sorts of discussions where "vote with your wallet" is seen as this form of consumer activism, when in fact, it reduces human expression and political resistance to a question of economics and it throws any non-significant economic marginalized group under the bus. Well-meaning people use it (like Gabe and Derphause probably), but they do not realize the implications of what they are advocating.

People's value and integrity as human beings are not up to debate and people should stop entertaining discourse that implicitly reinforce the status quo (which many examples exist in this thread). Of course, I'd love to be proven otherwise, that male gamers actually care about women in games, but the actions by a significant portion of male gamers indicate that they don't care and they would rather have the uncomfortable topic go away so they can go back to their virtual waifus in peace. This is nonsense and you're manufacturing claims that have no basis in reality. I have not called people who disagree with me nazis. The misogyny in video games certainly attracts a lot of misogynists. Just look at online harassment, sexism at game conferences, organized terror campaigns against women, the ways that women are silenced in discussions (like this thread), the ways that women are erased throughout gaming history, and on and on and on. Video games culture has a huge problem with the way that (male) games and developers treat women (and other groups for that matter) and the more harassment campaigns and the more refusal to learn, the more male gamers and devs prove that they don't care about women and would rather treat them as pleasurable objects for consumption than actual human beings.

Spman2099 is correct in the fact that even if it is the case that the primary demographic of video games are young white men, does this mean they should be fed sexist and racist and homophobic products? Are young white men not multifaceted and wouldn't they exactly benefit from a more diverse mediasphere that actually reflects reality and the complexity of identities? E.g. women should not just be represented because it benefits women, they should be represented because it benefits *all* consumers of games. Putting the responsibility of representation on marginalized audiences is not fair, and it leaves out the other identities who also benefits from more and better representation of non-default identities (those who aren't US, white, young men) The capitalist logic of looking at representation from a purely market-oriented perspective reduces the complexity of group identities, it ascribes traits to consumers that they don't necessarily have (young white men want sexist and racist media), and it also justifies bigotry as long as it makes a profit (which is what SPman2099 was referring to). In Adrienne Shaw's research and book Gaming at the Edge she writes based on her interviews with marginalized US consumers:

and I didn't notice the 270k survey by Quantic Foundry, that looks super interesting. The point is nevertheless that relegating women to "non-hardcore" genres is misleading and provides a form of erasure of how women exist in video game spaces, because as other studies (and the actual women playing these games and in this very thread & forum :lol) show, there is and always have been women playing games throughout all of games history. From that same study, it is a good question for game developers to ask themselves how this is a thing: Maybe Ubisoft and Bioware did something interesting with these games as to foster such audiences and that there is not specifically an aversion to genres as such, but aversion to other things that make up some of the "hardcore" games. The data I provided from EEDAR and Supercell should be indicative enough of disproving the false and alienating notion that "only men play hardcore console games, while women play browser/phone games." Death of the author does not absolve "the meaning of a text" from being entirely up to one person's opinion. There are still a constraint of what is possible to interpret from "the text", e.g. if you follow scholars like Stuart Hall and Umberto Eco, among many others who have clearly laid out why textual/media analysis is not simply epistemological relativism where one interpretation is as good as another. I.e. of course it is not possible to simply think that a sexually objectified character like Quiet is supposed to be some sort of transformative allegory because you think media analysis is some relativistic endeavor where interpretation A is as good as B. Just like I wouldn't be justified in a silly claim like Super Mario Bros 2 is about the Rio de Janeiro Stock Exchange Crash in 1989. If you were a student and came up to a teacher and told her that "You can't force me to accept whether something is shoddy justification or not and I can't do the same for you" after handing in an analytic paper on a given novel, film, or game without giving reasons for this, you would get laughed out of the room and retake the course.

The studies were relevant in terms of the overall state of games where the spaces clearly are constructed to exclude certain people who are put off by the nonsensical sexually objectifying pandering to straight dudes. Then I also mentioned the link between misogyny in games culture overall and how the broader palette reinforce these norms with e.g. the examples of organized terror campaigns, individual harassment cases, the treatment of women in the industry, and the general silencing of women in games culture. With this misogynist culture in mind, I tried to illustrate that perhaps treating female characters as objects for straight male pleasure might not be the best form of creative production a major game developer or publisher might introduce.

Yes, I know, but you were talking about "this generation" which started in 2013, so the study includes at least 2 years of this generation. And a diminishment does not mean that the problem isn't there any longer as evidenced by the same study's findiings in regards to primary characters and gender.

In addition to the countless testimonies of women (including in this thread), you have research that underlines why overall sexual objectification is "a bad thing" -> Then you have the problems of misogyny in video games as a whole: And then even a literal organized harassment campaign against women in games. Like literally sites to doxx and harass anyone who is a woman in games. So perhaps building up a culture that views women as pleasurable objects for straight dudes was not a good thing, considering the rampant misogyny in video games culture. And with that in mind, maybe it's not the most creative or interesting thing to have another penis-pleasure representation for the millionth time. I mean it's not like these 'crybabies' can't get their penis stroked elsewhere - basically most of our visual culture revolves around sexualizing the female body, so these dudes can just get aroused by the billionth of other media that is made for them.

Your examples are indicative of a nice trend (except for 2B, that isn't stylish), but we cannot simply erase the history that brought us here. As recent as 2014 you see the trend - a study published this year: And disregarding sexualization, you have quantitative marginalization of the overall representation (older figures pre-2010):

I am not sure what your argument is here and not sure if we have a disagreement. I don't think dumb shitty exploitative objectifying representation of women are necessarily a product of patriarchy or misogyny (sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't), but when they are introduced to a culture that is already rife with misogyny and hatred of women, then regardless of their creation or independence, they contribute to a reinforcement of those very same norms. Which I guess is fine, it's all legal and all to do whatever the fuck these male devs want, but it shouldn't mean that we cannot criticize them for making something terribly boring, trite, and alienating that we've seen a million times before. Dumb misogynist shit like those latex nuns with guns getting brutally murdered by the Hitman guy or the mute stripper sniper locked up in a cage and being sexually assaulted and beaten up and existing to arouse the assumed straight male player are clear-cut examples of misogyny, *especially* when video games culture have literal organized terror campaigns against women in games. And having this context in mind should alert people to wake up and acknowledge the problems in games and combat misogyny. Great to hear, thank you for your work. I wasn't implying you weren't doing work - just saying that perhaps the effort should be to support those who try to contest the power structures of patriarchy instead of questioning and arguing with them (which those people who always want to question the legimitacy of women's experiences are doing). Interesting take, hadn't thought of sex as a factor in these gamer bigots' lives.

Not sure who you are referring to here...I am not saying that sexualization is wrong. Dildos and fleshlights are fine. Dicks are fine. Breasts are fine. Sex-positivity all the way, yay! The rest of your post does little to address what I am talking about. If you want to learn more, listen to this recent podcast: as just one single instance of the thousands of personal testimonies of why this is a problem. You completely misunderstand if you think that the argument is "sexualization is bad" when that has nothing to do with what people are and have been saying for decades :) Researchers and women (and some men) are saying that the general landscape of video games culture has built up an objectificaiton of women to the point that the industry and culture is deeply misogynist. So even though one single instance of mute bikini sniper locked up in a cage or latex stripper nuns with guns are fine, they are symptoms of the broader trend of always reducing women to their bodies as pleasurable objects for male gamers. And when academics and women themselves try to inform male gamers about this and what effects this objectifying form of sexualization have, they refuse to listen. And when the misogyny is challenged, we are met with harassment and silencing and doxxing. So how about some support and help? How about spending effort on challenging the misogyny in games culture and the industry?

A significant portion of male gamers have made it abundantly clear that they refuse to listen to women and instead would rather have their dicks get hard than make games an inclusive, non-misogynist space. After years of open public misogyny, male gamers still want to dominate and exclude, because virtual tits and ass is more important than the well-being of other people. Thousands of personal testimonies, decades of academic research, and hundreds of well-written thinkpieces and feature articles have all proven and shown the misogyny in games culture. But nothing happens and we are still in the same position as before. And if women still voice their experiences, they are met with harassment, doxxing, and silencing from the gamer nazi to the "I just want to discuss the validity of your personal experience" male gamer. And then you have the unaffected gamer on the sidelines who just wish 'they could go back to talking about games' , i.e. have women shut up. I am personally done with giving any more reasonable doubt to posters who "just want to debate" while we have rampant misogyny in video games industry and culture and people fear for their safety. People's life experiences is not up to debate and it's not funny or an intellectual exercise, it's everyday sexism reproduced over and over again that hurts and marginalizes. And yes, the overall amount of 'your' video game waifus designed to get your dick hard implicitly foster alienating spaces, whether you like it or not.

1. People can express themselves moreso than with their money. We are not just walking wallets who only exist by virtue of the currency we spend on products. Why do you think we are posting on a video games message board? We are certainly doing something more than just expressing ourselves with currency - we are writing and sharing opinions and arguments with one another. 2. I don't see how I am the closeminded one, when I am addressing the people who refuse to listen and refuse to acknowledge the personal experiences, the academic research, the feature articles that emphasize the misogyny in games culture. I am sorry if I am drawing a line in the sand, but after listening to the same old broken record for years if not decades by thickheaded dudes with their privileged penises I am just too tired of entertaining their refusal to listen, acknowledge, and learn.
